ABOUT THE  

DISTRICT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Kevin Tubbs is a native of Birmingham, Alabama.  He received his undergraduate degree in education from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and a graduate degree from the University of West Alabama.

 

Coach Tubbs is entering his first year as the District Athletic Director for the Gulf Shores City School System.  His experience includes seven years as the System Athletic Director for Homewood City Schools and 23 total years in education.

 

While at Homewood, the athletic program achieved incredible growth and success.  From 2011-2017, the school system won 22 State Championships and 15 State Runner-up in seven years.  Equally impressive, the athletic department had four consecutive years with student-athletes being awarded the prestigious Bryant-Jordan Scholarship from 2013-2016.

 

 

Professional Accomplishments:

  • Achieved the highest designation of Certified Master Athletic Administrator in 2013

  • Invited Instructor for 10+ AHSAA and NIAAA Leadership Training Courses

  • Overall Varsity Basketball Coaching Record 251 – 71

  • 6A Girls Basketball State Championship in 2017 (Head Coach)

  • Coaching Experience: Cross Country, Track, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Football, and Baseball

  • Voted Best Athletic Program in the state of Alabama by USA Today in 2017.
