The Dolphin Athletics Club designates scholarships to graduating seniors at Gulf Shores High School who have demonstrated excellence in athletics, leadership & community service, and whose parents or guardians are members of the Dolphin Athletics Club.
To award non-renewable scholarships to graduating seniors at Gulf Shores High School who have demonstrated excellence in athletics, leadership & community service, and whose parents or guardians are member of the Dolphin Athletics Club. To be eligible, the student must plan to continue his/her education at a public/private college or vocational school. Awarded amount will be determined by the number of qualified applicants we have.
Athlete’s Parent/Guardian must be members of the Dolphin Athletics Club and have a minimum of 20 service hours with the club during the previous 12 months prior to the scholarship deadline. *Qualifying service hours are hours worked by the parents or guardians during DAC sponsored events (Wharf Concert Series, Annual Drawdown, Shrimp Festival, etc). Hours worked supporting a specific sport or coach do not count for DAC hours. **SERVICE HOURS REQUIREMENT WILL BE WAIVED FOR 2021 APPLICANTS.
Athlete must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Attach a copy of your Official (sealed) Transcript.
Athlete must show participation in extracurricular activities, community service and work experience.
Student must have applied to and plan to attend a two or four year college or vocational school in the fall of 2021. All scholarship payments will be made directly to the college/school and not to the student.
Student must write a one page essay on the following subject: “How my involvement in athletics has helped me to be a team participant and prepared me to be a team player in all areas of my life.” This essay should be typed and single spaced. The essay will be evaluated based on content, grammar, spelling, neatness, and following the instructions.
Applications must be complete, including a copy of your Official (sealed) Transcript and two letters of recommendation: one from a teacher & one from a coach.
Applications must be postmarked and/or submitted via email by April 16, 2021.
